Diet For Acne

So What Causes Acne?

There are three major factors that affect the way your skin looks

  1. Hormonal Imbalance
  2. Poor Digestion
  3. Overload of Toxins

Hormonal Imbalance

There are two reasons your hormones could be out of whack:
  1. Bad diet
  2. Stress

Stress is hard to manage when you live a hectic life. But if you can reduce it, then you'll see great improvement in the way your skin looks. So try to take some time off to do fun activities that promote relaxation.

The main cause though is bad diet. It is the major contributor to this problem. Fixing the diet can also improve your stress level as an added bonus. Let's take a look at some of the foods and their effects on your hormones.

Milk

One major item that affects your hormones is milk consumption. Now, I'm not suggesting you stop drinking milk. Most of us consume it for our source of calcium. But the kind of milk you drink, can make a huge difference in the appearance of your skin.

Now, if you consume regular brands from the supermarket, there's a good chance the cows that produce that milk were fed a non-organic corn based diet, and very little green grass. This diet will cause imbalances in the cow, because they are not getting all the nutrients they need to be healthy (amino acids, fatty acids, chlorophyll,...etc). Any byproducts of such an animal (milk and meat) will be less nourishing for your body.

On top of that, some cows are medicated or injected with growth hormones to increase production, so that can cause your skin to break out also. If you're going to drink milk, I suggest buying organic milk only. That would fix a lot of the problems, including oiliness of the skin. Your skin is not supposed to be oily. It is supposed to be glowing. Don't be misled by people saying that a oily skin will age slower. Oily skin simply means, you're hormones are overproducing sebum. You don't want overproduction or underproduction. You want normal functioning.

Hydrogenated Oil

This oil is not natural, and it is in almost everything we buy these days. Hydrogenation is a process by which a molecule of hydrogen is added to other elements to produce an oil that's saturated and more resistant to high heat. This oil sort of mimic the natural properties of palm oil. But the problem is that, our body doesn't recognize it. So that can easily get your hormones out of whack and produce lots of imbalances. Most of the time you'll see this oil in margarine and also in baked goods. Aside from making you breakout, it can cause weight gain as well. Anyone who has a skin issue should stay away from hydrogenated oil.

Poor Digestion

Most of the foods we eat nowadays have been stripped of their fiber content. So most of us get backed up as a result. The more backed up you are, the more toxins are going to be recycled in your blood, thus causing your skin to look dull. This can be easily solved by adding some more fiber into your diet and eat more whole foods. We'll talk about the foods that can help cleanse the colon in the next chapter.

Overload of Toxins

Your body is a host to a lot of microorganisms. Some are beneficial and some are not. Certain foods will cause the proliferation of those microbes. White bread is at the top of the list. But just about any foods that's cooked will cause some microbial overgrowth. That's why, eliminating certain foods is not enough to get clear lasting beautiful skin. You have to eat certain foods to keep the level of bacteria and microbes down. This brings us to the next section, where you'll learn what you need to do to fix the problem. Acne Solutions
